Joan and I searched for our retirement place in the sun and found the River Reach Island. We have been happy islanders since 2004 and enjoy life in the tropics. However, after 40 years of successfully running my company in Westchester County, New York, I felt the need to again be involved in a business and offer service ‘my way’, -- reliable, neat, professional painting and decorating. I founded Deeptone Painting LLC, a fully licensed and insured company. I employ only very qualified professional painters. We do quality painting work not only residential but also commercial and industrial, interior and exterior as well.

Perhaps you have seen us on Angie's List, Craig’s List and the Better Business Bureau.

Tom and Louise Buttion
We purchased our apartment in 2003 and spend time here and also in our abode in Maryland's Eastern Shore. We are both retired from the executive world of the airline industry and travel business.
Upon retirement, we operated a catamaran service on the Chesapeake Bay between Baltimore Inner Harbor, Annapolis, St. Michaels and Rock Hall. Currently we're enjoying the good life, beautiful surroundings and great friends.
During the last four years, we have become extremely interested in "wellness", i.e. our health and what we can do to improve our quality of life. If you are interested in improving your health, quality of life and providing yourself with a wellness environment, come visit us at our website

Juliane Ketcher and her husband Neal, who is a retired pilot, are almost year-round residents in the 1101 Building and are spending the summers on Flathead Lake in Montana.
Juliana was born in Germany and spent her youth in South America collecting experiences that formed her creative eye. In 1970 she joint Pan American World Airways as a flight attendant and moved to the USA. Extensive traveling throughout the world allowed her to study and savor a myriad of artistic expressions and ethnic forms. Juliane's art is a total creative diary of her travels and childhood experiences.
She was introduced to fine art through a course at the University of Washington. Juliane realized early on that she wanted to specialize in mixed media. She studied with many nationally known artist, developing her techniques of self-expression.
Her work has been exhibited in regional and national shows and she has professional affiliation with the National Association of Women Artists, New York, NY; the International Society of Experimental Artists, Sarasota, FL; the Florida Artists Group; and the 2Plus3 Artist Organization in Fort Lauderdale, FL .

Shirley and I have lived together at River Reach since 1982 when we were married. I moved onto the island in1976 and have seen many chances. I am happy to say most of these are for the better, and I feel the island has never looked better.
Our main interest is boating, and we have had boats since the early 80s. Our current boat is Dakota Bou, a 33' Tiara Flybridge, which is located on the north canal. Many of you have seen us working on this boat, which we purchased last June and has needed many updates and repairs.
Shirley works for Bennett Auto supply in the purchasing department, and I work for Atlantic Yacht Brokers and help people sell, purchase, and help people secure dockage.
If I can help any island resident with your boating needs call me @ 954 650 1030 or just stop by the dock and say HELLO

Steffi Schiffer, - I moved into River Reach as a renter in 1977, and after living here for 6 months, I purchased the unit I was renting. (Hind sight tells me I should have bought several units!)

I was a snowbird, going back and forth to the N.J. shore until 1987 when my family sold our business there.  When I moved here, there were only FOUR buildings.  They had not even broken ground on the other 2 yet, so there have been many changes.  One of the smartest things they did was the parking garages under the new buildings… I wish we all had those.  One of the worst things they did was the poor planning with some of the tree planting.  Those trees have grown up to block some of our wonderful waterfront views and that’s tragic!

My great passion these days is sailing and you can read some of my racing and cruising adventures at: www.yachtrace.net and you can click on the link there if you’d like to email me.  Just be sure to write RIVER REACH in the subject line so you don’t end up in the Spam box!

You can reach Steffi at: stef@yachtrace.net
